Describe the results/achievements of the activities
Since the resolution, there has not yet been a coordinated approach by the IUCN members or the commission members in addressing the issue. there are several standalone actions that have been undertaken by a few of our members largely on scientific and technical activities, while the Government has a Standing Committee on Water Resources made of members of the elected Members of Parliament. This committee's report in 2016 details the review of the issue in hand, provides the investment figures for various activities in each 5 year plans as well as provides several recommendations that include; creation of a national database as well as status of encroachments, a uniform classification scheme for wetlands, advocates the need for a detailed policy to deal with encroachments, the need to include water bodies as part of town planning, efforts to reduce pollution and siltation as well as the need for awareness campaigns among others.

Future actions / activities needed for the implementation of this Resolution
IUCN India will work the Indian National Committee for its members in India to begin a roundtable discussion on the resolution and seek further ways of engaging all stakeholders.

IUCN India is also exploring the possibility of working with private companies in addressing this.
