Describe the results/achievements of the activities
Limited direct results to date, and no reports from involved IUCN members were submitted. A WCPA best practice guideline on geoheritage and protected areas is advancing but still at a pre-draft stage. Financial support for its preparation has been secured by IUCN Secretariat from the Republic of Korea (Cultural Heritage Administration).
The WCPA Geoheritage Specialist Group (GSG) will convene in April with the support of BfN Germany to discuss its work programme, and the main IUCN members behind this resolution will be represented, so it is expected the resolution could be discussed at that point. However the scope of the resolution is beyond the mandate of WCPA.

Challenges/obstacles encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and measures taken
This report from the Secretariat focal point (Tim Badman, Director IUCN World Heritage Programme) has not been able to draw on any reports from members. I consider the challenges faced relate to lack of resources, and lack of clear and broadly based IUCN constituency on this issue. In my view the most promising means to consider implementation would be to discuss a partnership approach with UNESCO Science Sector.
Future actions / activities needed for the implementation of this Resolution
As above, I consider that there is a need for a decision on the possible strategy, and whether there is the means to resource action. From a strategic point of view, a discussion on partnership with UNESCO is advisable.
Are these actions/activities planned?
No
