Capacity-buildingTraining upon powered solar mills was conducted in Intoap (Backstreet) Village & Narusangiang Village, Umi Markham Valley, Morobe, PNG, for the women-led agricultural producers' groups in each community to improve productivity without additional fossil fuel inputs. This included operation of the solar systems to provide power to the mills, as well as occupational health & safety training on operation of the mills themselves.Completed

As a result of the pilot project in both villages, PNGWiAg has been able to use the demonstration as a foundation for requests to expand the project in a larger scale development cooperation arrangement with DFAT Australia.

FundraisingPNGWiAg is now interested in expanding coordination with IUCN ORO to collaborate with the government of PNG on developing a larger scale proposal to provide solar water pumps to agricultural communities where women have joined together to collectivize assets and increase agricultural diversity and productivity.
