Activities carried out to implement this Resolution
Activity
Field activities
Description and results/achievements of activities:
Planning and mapping of the restoration of in-activity mining site (Skouriotissa), then annual field restoration community activities (notably for the planting of vegetation).
- making sure that the final plans mark a net gain in the diversity of landscape and ecosystem services -notably with wetlands and cultivated areas- (quantities and quality) in addition to "base" restoration.
- making sure that species selected are native or non-invasive long-term adapted; around 15-20% of endemic.
- in addition to purely natural areas, restoration includes potential economic activities (tourism, food, motocross, farming), waste treatment, museums, green spaces/gardens/plant reserve, trekking and walking trails...
- use both of local techniques and innovation for the methodologies for planting and preserving.
- control of various invasive species that were commonly used in Cyprus for reforestation, ornamentation and cultivation a long time -but not any more for over 10 years-.

Describe any challenges encountered in implementing this Resolution and the measures taken
economic difficulties for the tender of the mine, some social and political contests (because it is a "mine", although the main activity is focused on the treatment of old excavated materials making them less polluting and stabilizing the fields) making the financing more difficult and giving security issues. also issues with erosion (mostly rains).
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken
Report for 2017 and 2018
Most elements were progressing well, but for the end of 2018 economic difficulties for the mining company made things slower but still ongoing.
Very important rate of surviving for new vegetation (probably over 80 %) in particularly difficult environments.

Description
Still many years of work are needed. Notably in order to have aging curves for plants, it must not be done all at once.
