Together with the Office for Risk Management of the Department of Cesar, we are formulating a project on Nature Based Solutions for DRR and Capacity building in different site of the Protected Area “Sierra Nevada de Santa Martha”

Both independently and as a member of the Geological Society of Colombia, I have given several lectures on ecosystem based disaster risk reduction, as well as participated in several venues, such as congress and workshops. The public included both students and other members from the academy, and general public.

Describe any challenges encountered in implementing this Resolution and the measures taken
In Colombia, the government tend to prioritize traditional engineering projects. One of the reasons they provided is that it is too difficult for the public administration to incorporate the maintenance needed for Eco-DRR works in the budget of a public project. This is usually due to the fact that most projects are short term.

Several people are now formed on Eco-DRR and are developing different projects on the topic
