There was engagement with relevant partners mentioned in the resolution through correspondence and Skype in preparation for the initial technical meeting to discuss the resolution.
A technical meeting of experts to discuss the resolution with relevant partners [WWF-International, TRAFFIC, CMS, Ecologic Institute, INECE, INTERPOL, OECD, UNICRI, UN Environment, German Partnership (GIZ)] was conducted from the 12th -13th July 2018 at the IUCN Environmental Law Centre in Bonn, Germany.
From Oceania: Initiating an audit of marine environmental compliance assets and systems in Tonga.
A technical meeting of experts to discuss the resolution with relevant partners [WWF-International, TRAFFIC, CMS, Ecologic Institute, INECE, INTERPOL, OECD, UNICRI, UN Environment, German Partnership (GIZ)] was conducted from the 12th -13th July 2018 at the IUCN Environmental Law Centre in Bonn, Germany.

Challenges/obstacles encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and measures taken
Fundraising to fully implement the activities in the resolution has been an ongoing challenge.
Future actions / activities needed for the implementation of this Resolution
As a next step we are seeking potential funding sources in order for us to be able to implement the following activities as recommended and agreed upon with the relevant partners at the technical meeting of experts that was conducted from the 12th -13th July 2018 at the IUCN Environmental Law Centre in Bonn, Germany:
- Creation of a mailing list in order to facilitate effective communication amongst partner
organisations;
- Establishing inter-organizational groups or working groups within the W.C.E.L for purposes
of continuously addressing environmental crime;
- Creation of a calendar of events that contains the planned activities of the various partner
organizations;
- Engagement with the private sector and to build partnerships with them for purposes of
addressing the issue of environmental crime;
- Exploring ways to create a global and shared definition about the meaning of “environmental
crimes” and “crimes against the environment”; and
- Utilising the IUCN Academy on environment law which is uniquely positioned in building environmental law education capacity and promoting the conceptual development of environmental law.to conduct research.
