Indicate which actions have been carried out to implement this Resolution :
Policy influencing/advocacy
Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken:
IUCN, in collaboration with several of its members and partners, continued to draw attention to the important role that nature-based solutions can play in addressing climate change, and called for states and other actors to include them in their plans and strategies. This was seen, for example, in the technical submissions that IUCN made in collaboration with other members and partners on the topic during the 2018 Talanoa Dialogue process, and in its own interventions and key messages at the same and during UNFCCC SB48 and UNFCCC COP24. IUCN also supported these through practical activities, such as the tools and guidelines that it helped prepare to enhance the uptake of ecosystem-based adaptation, both on the ground and at the policy level.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome :
IUCN analysis shows that there is a need for more concrete and expanded inclusion of nature-based solutions in the next round of Nationally Determined Contributions.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
Working in collaboration with like-minded members and partners, IUCN will continue to call for stronger inclusion and implementation of nature-based solutions to climate change.
