Implementation
Indicate which actions have been carried out to implement this Resolution :
Scientific/technical activities
Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken:
During 2018, the IUCN-CI Biodiversity Assessment Unit obtained Red List assessments for reptiles from the Brazilian National Red List assessment and entered them into the Species Information Service (SIS), so that they are published in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species website. In addition, an agreement was reached with ICMBio to obtain the Red List assessments for all endemic freshwater fishes of Brazil (approximately 1,700 species). These will be entered into SIS within 2019 and published in the Red List website.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome :
The main challenge was entering the assessments into the SIS system, given that they were all produced as Word documents and could not be processed in batch. Since the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species now accepts assessments in other languages, including Portuguese, translation of the Brazilian accounts is not necessary any more.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
As mentioned above, all freshwater fishes assessments will be entered into SIS and, after revision, they will be published in the Red List website, later in 2019.
Are these actions planned for yet:
Yes
