Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken: 
- Continued the development of the First Line of Defence (FLoD) methodology into training materials with support from Southern African Wildlife College and as a collaboration between IUCN ESARO, IIED and IUCN SULi
- IUCN ESARO ran a familiarisation workshop for governments of Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Angola (all members of the KAZA partnership) on the FLoD methodology
- IUCN SULi and IIED worked with IUCN ESARO to develop and submit multiple funding proposals for projects to roll out further field-based applications of the FLoD methodology, albeit with limited funding success to date
- IUCN SULi and IIED continued the development of the online Learning Platform on Communities and IWT (“People Not Poaching”) supported by the German Government Partnership against Poaching and IWT (BMUB and BMZ), implemented by GIZ and the UK Defra IWT Challenge Fund. The platform now includes 80+ case studies in a searchable database as well as key IWT policy documents, reports and events. See www.peoplenotpoaching.org
- IIED conducted an analysis of evidence on effectiveness of community based approaches to tackling IWT and published in Conservation Science and Policy: https://pubs.iied.org/X00208/
- IUCN SULi members based in Latin America collaborated with IIED and CIFOR to convene a Community Voices event prior to the Peru Conference on Illegal Wildlife Trade in October 2019. - IIED compiled a publication of Latin American case studies of community engagement to tackle IWT: https://pubs.iied.org/17656IIED/
- IIED and WWF-UK collaborated to conduct an analysis of progress made against commitments to tackle IWT at the intergovernmental conferences held since 2014. See https://pubs.iied.org/17715IIED/ and https://www.wwf.org.uk/sites/default/files/2019-08/WWF_IWT_Report_v8.pdf. UK DEFRA hosted a side event at CITES CoP18 on IWT which included a presentation on the analysis of commitments and lack of progress in meeting them.
- A learning exchange on communities and IWT was held in Kenya in Nov 2019 hosted by IUCN ESARO, in collaboration with IIED and IUCN SULi and supported by GIZ and UK DEFRA IWT Challenge Fund
- A national dialogue on communities and IWT was held in Tanzania in Dec 2019, hosted by Tanzania Natural Resources Forum in collaboration with IIED and supported by UK DEFRA IWT Challenge Fund.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome : 
The main challenge to date has been in securing funding to continue activities.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution: 
- Ongoing advocacy at international and national levels to integrate community perspectives and priorities in to policy and decision making
- Further roll out of the FLoD approach both as a situation analysis tool and an evaluation tool
- A limited number of national dialogues are supported by the IIED/IUCN SULi Learning and Action Platform project, funded by UK DEFRA IWT Challenge Fund and GIZ.
