Indicate and briefly describe any actions that have been carried out to implement this Resolution:
ActionDescriptionStatus
Policy influencing/advocacyDespite support from the vast majority of CCAMLR members the East Antarctic MPA proposal has not been approved. The Weddell Sea and Domain 1 MPA proposals also have overwhelming support amongst members the proposals have not been agreed. IUCN was represented at the 2018 and 2016 CCAMLR meetings but did not attend 2019. ECO was not advised on why IUCN did not attend the CCAMLR meeting in line with the resolution. The Antarctic and Southern Ocean continues to be a orphan in the IUCNs regional set up. ECO engages with New Zealand Government agencies and with NZ IUCN members on CCAMLR and ATCM issues, and with members of the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition.On-going

Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken:
The Ross Sea MPA was agreed to in 2016 and came into force in 2017. There is still not agreement on the research and monitoring plan for the MPA but it has been agreed by the CCAMLR Scientific Committee. New Zealand and Korea have invested extra resources in research on the environment to monitor and assess the ecosystem within the MPA.

These and the following comments are also relevant to 2017 and 2018.
What challenges have you encountered in implementing this Resolution and what measures have you taken to overcome them?:
The main challenge is the requirement for consensus at CCAMLR and the ATCM to agree to measures. IUCNs engagement has been patchy.
Identify and briefly describe what future actions are planned for the implementation of this Resolution:
