Education/Communication/Raising awarenessAula del Mar has appointed the seahorse as its flagship species for 2019 and 2020. Seahorse is the most representative species of syngnathids in the Alboran Sea. It has been selected by conservationists and environmental preservation managers because it has a number of charismatic attributes that make it suitable to be a symbol of nature protection, with the aim of attracting the attention of the general public, raising funds and obtaining government support. As a result, not only will funds be raised to protect the flagship species, but also the ecosystem in which it lives and that of many other species; less attractive and appealing to the public.
