Implementation

Convene stakeholders/Networking
Scientific/technical activities
Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken:
This resolution concerns establishment of a working group on natural capital which will accord with a set of 21 non-binding principles which address the multiple values of natural capital, including its intrinsic values, maintaining and improving condition of the natural capital, and various inclusivity and implementation principles. The resolution was a council sponsored resolution. Its implementation has been led by CEESP and CEM and started with the establishment of the working group on natural capital.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome :
Implementation of the working group activities, including meetings and preparations of potential technical materials to support the development of a policy on natural capital, requires financial resources that need to be first resourced.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
As a first step, it is proposed that a CEM-CEESP inter-commission task force is established. The task force will focus on CEM and CEESP members in the first instance, as these two commissions appear to have the most interest in this subject area. The task force will clarify the range of representative perspectives and arguments held by CEM and CEESP members on the subject of natural capital, natural capital accounting and biodiversity accounting and identify areas of potential consensus and divergence.

The task force aims to articulate the different perspectives of CEESP and CEM members and present these views as coherent arguments that can be used to inform the work of the IUCN Working Group and related initiatives mentioned above.
Are these actions planned for yet:
Yes
