The workshop was realised with the input of four experts on the topic of underwater noise and 27 participants from NGOs out of 8 countries. The exchange was perceived as very useful and a good basis for further (joint) work on the topic of underwater noise.
What challenges have you encountered in implementing this Resolution and what measures have you taken to overcome them?:
Lack of awareness of the underwater noise issues in the Baltic Sea and stakeholder collaboration. Measures: Work towards increasing knowledge on the underwater noise challenges and possible mitigation measures in the Baltic Sea and facilitate collaboration among stakeholders through workshops.
Identify and briefly describe what future actions are planned for the implementation of this Resolution:
Future ActionDescription
Convene stakeholders/NetworkingEven though underwater noise is recognised as a significant problem in the Baltic Sea, concrete actions to reduce it are still scarce. CCB’s will work to increase the knowledge about possible mitigation measures and support collaboration between NGOs, working towards their implementation. The main aim is to achieve a reduction of underwater noise into the Baltic.
