ActionDescriptionStatus
Education/Communication/Raising awarenessCCB has continued the work on collecting and sharing knowledge about preparation and revision of national CAP strategic plans following the recommendations by the EC (COM(2020) 846 final and respective recommendations to each MS) on aligning those with the Green Deal targets and those stemming from the Farm to Fork Strategy and the Biodiversity Strategy for 2030. On-going
Education/Communication/Raising awarenessCCCB supported local initiatives for promoting organic food to local consumers across the Baltic Sea Region. This was done through the Baltic Sea Farmer of the Year Award (BSFYA) and the Greener Agriculture for a Sustainable Sea Conference (GRASS).On-going
Policy influencing/advocacyThrough its priority Working Area for Water Protection in Agriculture, CCB, jointly with WWF BEP, has continued in 2021 advocating for mitigation of BSR eutrophication through implementation of agreed policies to reduce the nutrient load. Such advocacy mainly addressed HELCOM meetings for proper nutrient balanced fertilization practices and efficient use of fertilizer nutrients, saving nutrient resources and minimizing eutrophication, through following-up and monitoring the implementation of agreed actions. Its primary focus was to halt attempts for watering-down the adopted requirements, support the implementation of nutrient reduction targets and minimization of nutrient losses within the BSR, especially within the HELCOM BSAP update.On-going
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken:
An open article “Does the European Green Deal in agriculture stop nutrient leaching and limit the eutrophication of the Baltic Sea?” has been published. CCB has continued in 2021 collecting national inputs for a report on best examples of agri-environmental measures from Baltic EU Member States.
