Description and results/achievements of activities:
We are engaged in the development of several scientific publications related to protected area downgrading, downsizing, and degazettement (PADDD), including:
- analysis of PADDD in the Yellowstone-to-Yukon region (in prep)
- comparative methodology for documenting PADDD events (in prep)
- political economy of PADDD in the United States (in review)
- comparative case study of PADDD in two protected areas in Cambodia (in revision)
- PADDD in Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) (in prep)

We also continue to maintain PADDDtracker.org (global) and PADDDtracker Brazil.

We completed two analyses related to PADDD that illustrate the adoption and spread of the concept in the scientific literature:

In 2022, we have completed two technical activities, and have several technical works (peer-reviewed publications) in progress. The next major phase of this work is the development of a task force on long-term conservation that can advance the recommendations from the Resolution and supporting scientific research into practice.

Following a request from the chair of the WCPA, we are developing a Terms of Reference for a new WCPA task force that will focus on long-term conservation. This will be the primary community of practice to implement the resolution, especially clause 1, and will include efforts to engage in policy, build capacity, and convene stakeholders.
