Scientific/technical activitiesWe are engaged in the development of several scientific publications related to protected area downgrading, downsizing, and degazettement (PADDD), including: - analysis of PADDD in the Yellowstone-to-Yukon region (in prep) - comparative methodology for documenting PADDD events (in prep) - political economy of PADDD in the United States (in review) - comparative case study of PADDD in two protected areas in Cambodia (in revision) - PADDD in Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) (in prep) We also continue to maintain PADDDtracker.org (global) and PADDDtracker Brazil. On-going

In 2022, we have completed two technical activities, and have several technical works (peer-reviewed publications) in progress. The next major phase of this work is the development of a task force on long-term conservation that can advance the recommendations from the Resolution and supporting scientific research into practice.

Capacity-buildingFollowing a request from the chair of the WCPA, we are developing a Terms of Reference for a new WCPA task force that will focus on long-term conservation. This will be the primary community of practice to implement the resolution, especially clause 1, and will include efforts to engage in policy, build capacity, and convene stakeholders.
