MigraMar and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute supported the Panamanian Government in the development of the management plan for the Cordillera de Coiba Marine Protected Area and developed the first scientific expedition to the region.

The Cordillera de Coiba management plan was approved and the Panamanian government in cooperation with MigraMar, STRI and other organizations is strengthening management and control and surveillance in the MPA.
