In 2020, WPSI helped facilitate eight stakeholder meetings (including agriculture, conservation and forest governance institutions) to discuss local conservation issues in our project areas in and around the Sundarbans Tiger Reserve in India.

Field activities
In collaboration with local institutions, we also distributed over 36,000 saplings of native fruit trees to nearly 9,000 families on Bali Island, adjacent to the Tiger Reserve in India. Additionally, we helped plant nearly two lakh mangrove seedlings in the 24 Parganas North district. After Cyclone Amphan hit the Sundarbans on May 20, 2020, many villages, especially the vulnerable islands bordering the Tiger Reserve, suffered extensive damage from the storm and saline water surges. With the support of well-wishers and along with the regional Forest Department, WPSI's volunteers helped provide assistance to over 2,800 families in hamlets and villages around Sundarban Tiger Reserve by distributing ration and drinking water.
