We held a series of expert meetings in New York in October 2022 on protected areas in armed conflict, it was a multi-disciplinary discussion which brought together both the military perspective/considerations and that of conservation experts.

The chair of the SG was invited to expert meetings held by the ICRC with states, and meetings with other experts in the area to help the ICRC with guidance that they are creating for states on the protection of environmentally protected areas during armed conflict.
