Ongoing consultations occurred 2021-2022. The goal was to spread awareness of Res 125's CTA #1...recognizing the science that calls for protecting HALF...and focus as a stepping stone the Res 125 CTA#2 and assure inclusion of the 30x30 goal in the outcomes of the COPS
The Resolution: CTA #2.. to support, at a minimum, a target of effectively and equitably protecting and conserving at least 30% of terrestrial areas and of inland waters...etc.. and of coastal and marine areas, respectively, with a focus on sites of particular importance for biodiversity, in well-connected systems of protected areas and other effective area-based conservation measures (OECMs) by 2030 in the post-2020 global biodiversity framework; |
