Activities carried out to implement this Resolution
Activity
Education/Communication/Raising awareness
Description and results/achievements of activities:
The Handbook on Cranes and Agriculture: Humans and Cranes Sharing the Landscape was distilled into a summary document that is more user friendly and therefore more accessible for practical implementation for conservationists, farmers, and locally based decision makers. It is available in English and Chinese and is available on various platforms for download. It was shared across a number of distribution lists internationally.

Activity
Scientific/technical activities
Description and results/achievements of activities:
A research project was initiated in 2024 across Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda to better understand the damage cranes cause to crops (seasonality, type of crop, and growth stage), the perceptions of human-crane conflict from farmers, to identify and map the key poisoning and human-crane conflict areas, and to test various crop deterrent methods to prevent human-crane conflict.

Describe any challenges encountered in implementing this Resolution and the measures taken
None to date
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken
An improved understanding of human-crane conflicts occuring in agricultural landscapes is being gained. Once the situation is well understood and effective mitigation measures are identified through this research, the information will be disseminated to farmers and land managers, as well as to the relevant government departments and other stakeholders to encourage wider dissemination of knowledge and policy enforcement within agricultural landscapes.

We will also encourage the uptake of mitigation methods through effetive partnerships.
We will also use this information to enrouage governments to adopt and enforce supporting policies
