In view of the traditional practice of collecting bat droppings for use in 'bat guano' in traditional medicine, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) initiated the Bat Conservation Action Network (BCAN) in 2023. BCAN has been working long-term to raise public awareness since then, urging people not to disturb bat habitats and advocating for the protection of cave ecosystems. The network also calls for preventing over-tourism development in these sensitive areas.
