The update of Türkiye’s Key Biodiversity Areas Inventory, with the partnership of BirdLife Secretariat, an essential resource for biodiversity conservation, aims to enhance the understanding and documentation of the country’s ecosystems and species. By incorporating new criteria and expanding the scope to include nine diverse taxonomic groups—plants, molluscs, odonates, butterflies, freshwater fish, amphibians and reptiles, mammals, and birds—the project ensures that biodiversity is accounted for comprehensively. This initiative, which involves a team of 12 experts and academics, is crucial for adapting conservation strategies to current needs and fostering evidence-based decision-making.
