II. Implementation

Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken
Workshops are being held across the Canary Islands to establish a response network for the rescue of live stranded cetaceans and the release of individuals entangled in fishing gear or ropes. This initiative addresses the region’s rich cetacean biodiversity, 30 species have been recorded in the archipelago, making it the most diverse area in Europe for whales and dolphins.

Key actions include training rescue teams, developing and distributing specialized equipment, and creating a portable system for the temporary care of stranded animals.

The main goal is to improve emergency response capacity and increase the survival chances of affected cetaceans.
