3b. provide support to the IMPAC International Steering Committee and the MPA agency of the hosting country for organising every IMPAC congress;
WCPA marine and west and central Africa VC, IUCN Oceans and IUCN West Africa Office in Dakar, as well as members of the International Steering Committee are supporting Senegal in organizing IMPAC6 for 2027. The ISC as well as IMPAC6 organizing committee has met several times in 2026, in Nouakshot (Mauritania) in June and Dakar in september. IUCN Oceans team has secured funding to hire support at IUCN events teams at HQ and at IUCN West Africa office. |

process of the host country, in collaboration with WCPA and the IMPAC International Steering Committee; IN January 2026, WCPA Chair, WCPA Marine VC, IUCN Oceans team and CCA met to discuss the Term of Reference of IMPAC congress (Not just IMPAC6) including the history of IMPAC, strucure and role of the ISC, the contractual aspects, and the selection of the host countries. WCPA shared a draft ToR with IUCN CCA and Oceans team to start the discussion. |

IMPAC6 organization is on track and a huge challenge for Senegal. Lack of capacities and time of WCPA marine make its challenging but different ISC members, IUCN West Africa and WCPA members and Senegal government have made significant progress towards the organization of IMPAC6 in 2027 |
