We work in the context of the full-scale war in Ukraine, studying its impact on biodiversity and protected areas, supporting protected area institutions operating under wartime conditions, including in occupied territories. We are building up experience in conservation work during a full-scale war, both through research and through engagement with authorities, who do not always recognise that environmental issues cannot simply be postponed until after the war.
We also integrate biodiversity conservation considerations into humanitarian demining and post-war recovery planning.
The information and experience accumulated through this work are documented in publications.
