Planning and preparation. In IUCN Council Decision C117/10, Council approved initiation of the process for implementing WCC-2025-Res-140 (as one of four requiring action from Council), and noted its proposed implementation plan (Annex 7) including establishment of a PPC Taskforce. Support to the process was also highlighted within 2026 DG Strategic Objective 4.2 as approved by Council.

Coordination issues
|
The power and legitimacy of IUCN Policy comes from its mandate from through the IUCN Resolutions process and subsequent implementation with oversight from IUCN Council. However, there is a definite concern regarding how such implementation of WCC-2025-Res-140 can proceed with sufficient speed to keep pace with the extremely rapid current developments in the field of AI. |
