Alien species and insect conservation

This overview of the roles of alien species in insect conservation brings together information, evidence and examples from many parts of the world to illustrate their impacts (often severe, but in many cases poorly understood and unpredictable) as one of the primary drivers of species declines, ecological changes and biotic homogenisation.

Aquatic invasive alien species - top issues for their management

This publication presents the structure, the particulars, the methods for identifying and prioritizing the invasive alien species issues, the information derived from the invited presentations and the posters, as well as the outcomes of the conference "Freshwater Invasives - Networking for Strategy (FINS)" of the Inland Fishers Ireland (IFI) and the European Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture Advisory Commission (EIFAAC).

European guidelines on protected areas and invasive alien species

Invasive alien species (IAS) have been identified as one of the most important direct drivers of biodiversity loss and ecosystem service changes. Many international policy instruments, guidelines and technical tools have been developed to address this threat. The Bern Convention, with the technical support of the IUCN SSC Invasive Species Specialist Group, is developing a series of voluntary instruments (codes of conduct and guidelines) covering a number of industries, activities or contexts potentially responsible for the introduction of alien species.

Biological globalisation : bio-invasions and their impacts on nature, the economy and public health

This book integrates biological, agricultural, medical, historical and economic knowledge on biological globalisation. It treats invading micro-organisms, plants and animals alike in their multiple impacts on nature and biodiversity, the economy and human health.

Flora e Fauna Terrestre Invasora na Macaronésia : TOP 100 nos Açores, Madeira e Canárias = Flora y Fauna Terrestre Invasora en la Macaronesia : TOP 100 en Azores, Madeira y Canarias = Invasive terrestrial flora and fauna of Macaronesia : TOP 100 in Azo

This book aims to answer questions relating to species introduced into the Macaronesian environment, including the Canary Islands (Spain), Madeira (Portugal) and the Azores (Portugal). It is a first attempt to present information regarding alien species in the European region of Macaronesia in a systematic way. A standard set of criteria was designed and applied to those species considered as naturalized and occupying natural and semi-natural habitats. This book is also intended to serve as a tool to raise awareness of the problem of IAS (invasive alien species).
