To ensure effective park management for increasing visitor numbers, good quality global data on visitor use is necessary. This manual describes terms, approaches and techniques for gathering information about public use of parks and protected areas.

Biodiversity management in the cement and aggregates sector : Biodiversity Indicator and Reporting System (BIRS)

Businesses are increasingly mindful of their impacts on biodiversity and how they can address these impacts through proactive biodiversity management. Monitoring can provide companies with a better understanding whether they are achieving their intended results, and also aid in decision-making. IUCN created the Biodiversity Indicator and Reporting System (BIRS) to guide companies in the cement and aggregates sector in adopting a standardized system for monitoring biodiversity at their extractive operations, and to encourage regular reporting on biodiversity attributes at the company level.

Le dispositif juridique français demande aujourd'hui à certaines entreprises de faire figurer dans leurs documents de reporting des informations relatives à la biodiversité. L'objectif est d'informer leurs parties prenantes des relations qu'elles entretiennent avec la biodiversité et des actions qu'elles engagent dans ce domaine.

Corporate biodiversity reporting and indicators : situation analysis & recommendations

Some companies are currently required by French legislation to include information on biodiversity in their reports, the aim being to inform their stakeholders about the company’s commitment to biodiversity conservation. However, these reporting documents vary in content, form and method, and some companies admit that they have difficulty writing their biodiversity reporting documents. This study is thus designed to improve companies’ biodiversity reporting methodologies and approaches.
