CITES : trade and survival

Shows the work of CITES, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, as it seeks to regulate trade in endangered animals and plants. Includes scenes of poachers killing endangered species such as the Sumatra tiger, black rhino and elephant as well as the smuggling of exotic bird species. Shows how Customs Services use CITES information to intercept illegal shipments. Concludes with an interview of the former, Secretary General of the Convention, Mr. Eugène Lapointe.
