Notes:

Air is the breath of life and air pollution a terrible problem. The film opens in Mexico City, the crowded and the most polluted city in the world. Petroleum refineries, petrochemical industries and other industries emit large amounts of toxic substances making respiratory diseases, especially among children and old people, a common problem. In Europe, acid rains destroys the forests of northern countries while "acid water" makes lakes lifeless. Air pollution strikes as well at the world's cultural monuments, for example, in Greece.
