Notes:

Three examples of soil erosion are shown: in Nepal, population growth has increased the demand for more food and fuel with the result that the soil is being washed away. In Kenya, huge tea and coffee plantations replace the land need for food crops forcing local people to cut down forests. Land is then exposed to wind erosion. In Oklahoma, in the United States, certain industrial crops can only be grown if soil conservation programmes are in place. This film shows positive steps that are being taken to prevent desertification.
