The Shirakami Mountains, a legacy to our descendants

In the Shirakami Mountains of Aomori and Akita prefectures, there remains the most extensive beech forest in Japan. The Shirakami Mountains have been designated a Nature Conservation Area and nominated for World Heritage status. This film show us the wildlife, plants at different seasons in this 300 year-old forest area. Close-up shots of: salamanders, black woodpeckers, japanese squirrels, chars, etc.
