In order to promote and augment regional initiatives on sustainable aquaculture, aquatic animal health and resource enhancement, and to consequently contribute to poverty alleviation, livelihood and food security, the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center/Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC/AQD) has held a 3-day workshop on the “Promotion of Sustainable Aquaculture, Aquatic Animal Health and Resource Enhancement in Southeast Asia (SARSEA)” on 25–27 June 2019 in Iloilo City, Philippines.

This pamphlet briefly introduces measures that are now taken by various stakeholders in Japan and contribute to achieving the proposed post-2010 biodiversity targets. Measures included in this pamphlet is not exhaustive, but selected by the government of Japan as ones expected to be interesting to other parties. 

In the Northeast Asia sub-region, environmental pollution, transboundary sand and dust storms (SDS), agricultural expansion, deforestation, and overgrazing are growing challenges that are being further complicated by the impacts of climate change.

This proceedings contain the country reports, review papers, a synopsis of working group discussions and a list of regional policy recommendations for the development and use of alternative dietary ingredients in aquaculture feed development.

“International Workshop on Resource Enhancement and Sustainable Aquaculture Practices in Southeast Asia” was held in Iloilo City from 5 to 7 March 2014. This international workshop aimed to promote and augment regional initiatives on resource enhancement and sustainable aquaculture practices, and to contribute to poverty alleviation, livelihood and food security.
