Convene stakeholders/NetworkingIUCN ECARO was instrumental in convening WCPA and SSC experts to accompany the Bern Convention expert and participate in the mission
Policy influencing/advocacyIUCN ECARO experts paid a visit to Macedonia in May 2015 where we had the opportunity to meet representatives of the Ministry of Environment, including HE Minister Izairi, the Macedonian Electric Power Company (ELEM), the EBRD, and the World Bank, two major investors involved in hydro power development in Mavrovo NP.
Scientific/technical activitiesA field mission (on the spot appraisal) to Mavrovo National Park under the auspices of the Bern Convention/Council of Europe was carried out on 23/24 June 2015
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken: 
A mission report is still in preparation. IUCN Secretariat is in close touch with both WCPA and SSC experts in providing expert input to the report.
What challenges have you encountered in implementing this Resolution and what measures have you taken to overcome them?: 
Through visits and exchanges of expert views the IUCN Secretariat has been trying to maintain political dialogue on the importance of minimizing the negative impact of hydro power development in protected areas.

Future ActionDescription
FundraisingIUCN will be fundraising for a project on protected areas in Macedonia in support of valuing ecosystem services and their benefits to local communities.
Policy influencing/advocacyTo maintain open communication with the Ministry of Environment and the EBRD/WB on the impact of planned infrastructure in the National Park.
