Following the discovery of a coral colony in Iraqi territorial water for the first time, the Ministry of Environment (MoE), has requested the Marine Science Centre (MSC) prepare a report. The objectives of the report are to:
• Document the discovery of the coral community;
• Indicate the significance of this discovery;
• Suggest strategies for future management and protection; and
• Identify procedures required for the assignment of a protective status to the location.
