II. Implementation

Challenges / obstacles encountered in the implementation of this Resolution
Lack of financial funds
Describe any challenges encountered in implementing this Resolution and the measures taken
There has been a challenge in finding funding for support the regional aspects of the implementation of this Resolution. IUCN Asia regional office was not successful in submitting a PIF for a regional initiative to the GEF. However, there are efforts underway to identify other sources of funding including the EU.
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken
The outcome of supporting the range states through the Regional Initiative has led to action on banning the use of diclofenac, a veterinary drug which has been the prime cause of mortality in the gyps vulture species. In addition, there have been country level action plans developed including ecosystem valuation of services provided by vultures
