The issue of setting up a coherent MPAs network in the Antarctic and Southern Oceans is still moving on. Some countries are reluctant to put in place such a network despite the scientific evidence and the strong willingness of some other countries.

Without correct level of findings, it is difficult to work in the Antarctic region. Moreover, very few donors are interested in working on Antarctic marine conservation.
