Operational mechanisms to implement the new commitment in the Convention's operational guidelines are now required and will require time and resources to investigate and implement.
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken
1. Notable success in 2015 was the adoption of the principle of FPIC and the reference to UNDRIP in the WH Convention's Operational Guidelines, to which IUCN contributed directly.
2. Rights issues have been more consistently raised in IUCN's evaluations and the Committee has taken cognisance of related recommendations
3. World Heritage Convention policy on sustainable development adopted.
4. Significant progress in joint projects on nature/culture connections with ICCROM and ICOMOS, and joint work wtih ICOMOS on evaluation processes for mixed World Heritage nominations ... noting that the separation of nature and culture is one of the sources of discontent regarding the implementation of the WH Convention in relation to rights.
