Description and results/achievements of activities:
The Auckland University of Technology has undertaken a Tidal Assessment study in Ha'apaii and Vava'u to determine the viability of introducing tidal energy generation systems and the possible generation potential.

An assessment report demonstrating the potential for tidal energy generation at two selected sites in Tonga will be provided for further scoping and potential introduction of tidal generators, as well as providing a baseline understanding of tidal forces and energy potential for other Pacific Island Countries to review and utilize in their own site assessments.
