Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken: 
The implementation section of the Resolution describes the ongoing work of both IUCN and the NGOs and government agencies who sponsored the motion. As such, the results and achievements of these efforts are described in the annual reports of these organisations, and are not repeated here.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome : 
Conflicting interests between nature conservation and economic interests continue to pose a challenge to the permanent protection of critical scenic and natural areas and the wildlife they contain. A landscape approach, where protected areas play an active role in sustainable development, should continue to be promoted. The use of Strategic Environmental Assessments should be promoted to ensure that protected and conserved areas are adequately considered in planning processes.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution: 
Ongoing efforts by all the above-mentioned organisations to support and implement the National Park idea and to support local and global efforts to create and maintain permanent protection of critical scenic and natural areas and the wildlife they contain will need to be continued. This includes further efforts to support and enhance the responsible management of these areas to assure their long-term protection.
