Describe the results/achievements of the activities
The main activity regarding this resolutions is being supported by the IUCN WCPA Specialist Group on Transboundary Conservation, which is maintaining an effective network of experts and contributing to improved scientific and technical knowledge regarding transboundary cooperation. The SG has also contributed towards developing project proposals for funding and for partnership. The Korea National Park Service has seconded a staff member to work in the Asia Regional Office, to support the Asia Protected Area Partnership, and also activities regarding the implementation of this resolution. The SG has also managed to find resources to resume publication of a very good newsletter. IUCN, working with the CBD Secretariat has secured the ongoing work of the Biodiversity and Peace Initiative that includes a focus on transboundary cooperation.
Challenges/obstacles encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and measures taken
The major obstacle is to obtain funding to undertake some of the more time-intensive tasks.
Future actions / activities needed for the implementation of this Resolution
The major task to is establish a means to record all of the transboundary conservation areas in the World Database on Protected Areas
