Achievements under this result have included a strong engagement of IUCN at UNFCCC COP22 and 23 (building on the successes of COP21) to ensure that, working together with its members, commissions and partners, IUCN continues to highlight the importance and relevance of nature-based solutions to climate change. This has been done through (i) its key policy messages/statements, (ii) issues briefs/technical publications, (iii) active engagement in the forest, ocean, water and resilience tracks of the UNFCCC Global Climate Action (GCA) process, and (iv) technical/policy events convened in the IUCN pavilion and elsewhere to showcase its relevant on-the-ground work. Progress has also been made through the securing of new pledges totaling over 160 million ha under the Bonn Challenge, strengthening of the Friends of Ecosystem-based Adaptation (FEBA) network, and IUCN's joining of key global initiatives such as the Global Peatlands Initiative and the Global Mangrove Alliance. As required under the resolution, a new Climate Change Task Force has also been set up under the Programme and Policy Committee (PPC) of the IUCN Council.
