Convene stakeholders/Networking
Education/Communication/Raising awareness
Policy influencing/advocacy
Scientific/technical activities
Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken:
A wide range of activities has been undertaken especially to engage partners in better understanding the underlying research rationale for nature being important in human health, to introduce this into government programmes, especially in Australia, Scotland, Canada and the USA, and to advance communications and public awareness through a range of activities. In particular, many of the organisations supporting implementation of this resolution contributed to a session in the World Conference on Human Health, at which the IUCN President participated in a high-level panel. IUCN has appointed Peter Cochrane as a member of the World Health Organization's Interagency Group on Health. Several organisations, led by Parks Victoria, have promoted the work of the IUCN WCPA Specialist Group on Health and Well-being. Reports are available on the individual actions taken.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome :
The initiative is a growing one, and engaging a global constituency at policy and practice levels is a huge undertaking. Gaining the trust and cooperation of public authorities is a slow process, but progress has been steady.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution:
All activities envisaged by the resolution are in the process of being implemented. There is strong implementation in Australia, but the resolution calls for global implementation, so the work programme over the next few years will be focused on expanding the number of partners and activities globally.
Are these actions planned for yet:
Yes
Status of implementation
