Describe the results/achievements of the actions taken: 
Activities planned and delivered include: an inception meeting to clarify the relative roles and joint work plan with the IUCN WCPA Beyond Aichi Task Force and other parties working on this topic- carried out last year in the Island of Vilm; research to provide a scientific basis for a new strategic plan: the Secretariat & partners have been working extensively on substantiating the knowledge base around target setting, indicators to monitor progress, defining key areas for conservation, etc : information & technical papers have been prepared and published, scientific articles, blogs and media materials; development of indicators and data management systems to monitor progress in implementing the plan at different geographical scales and across different sectors: linked to the previous point; policy influencing and advocacy work: IUCN has been making reference to the Resolution in its policy work including in the Position Paper developed for the last SBSTTA of CBD in December 2017; and a major two-day international symposium at ZSL in Spring 2018, bringing together international scientific and policy experts, alongside policy-makers, business, civil society and donors, to generate greater political awareness of the need for a more ambitious and more effective strategy for safeguarding space for nature: The Space for Nature Symposium will take place in London 27-28 February and will be followed by a 1 day expert workshop that will fine-tune and plan on the delivery of 3 major outcomes: 1) a meeting report that will be presented to the CBD SBSTTA22/SBI2 in July as an information document; 2) a peer-review scientific article on the subject of the Resolution to be published in a scientific journal; 3) a CBD technical series type of publication.
What challenges/obstacles have been encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and how were they overcome : 
Lack of funding to expand activities and engagement of a wider range of actors keeps on being a major challenge. Joint fund-raising efforts by all partners and common outreach strategies have helped to overcome this. Nevertheless, more is needed.
Briefly describe what future actions are needed for the implementation of this Resolution: 
Agreement on concrete timeline and definition of the 3 outcomes described above- who will be engaged in what, what is the expected timeline for delivery and what are the funding sources to finance the work to be carried out.
