Capacity-buildingTwo training workshops have been conducted in partnership with Global Sustainable Energy Solutions to certify Nauru Utilities Corporation and private electricians in Grid-Connected Solar PV design, installation, and operations. These training workshops included practical exercises resulting in an additional 11kW of solar PV capacity being installed on the Nauru electrical grid.Completed
Education/Communication/Raising awarenessPoster/writing contest conducted at primary/secondary level in schools to broaden awareness of environmental impacts renewable energy/energy efficiency technology may have on the country. Prizes have been awarded to the most exemplary submissions at various grade levels.Completed
OtherA Low Carbon Fund has been established in partnership with the Nauru Utilities Corporation, resulting in over 5 successful applicants receiving subsidies for replacing old appliances with high efficiency refrigerators, freezers, and washing machines. The fund has been populated with over US$90,000 in capital, and is currently under disbursement to qualified applicants.On-going
