Implementation
Indicate and briefly describe any actions that have been carried out to implement this Resolution:
ActionDescriptionStatus
Field activitiesEstablishment of a replacement solar system for Silver's Eco Bed & Breakfast was an additional component of the grant, as the initial structure and all power had been destroyed by Cyclone Winston. 1.2kW of solar PV have been installed, along with wiring and storage to accommodate the needs of the business and provide additional power supply for members of the community requiring phone charging facilities and lighting for group activities.Completed
Field activitiesOn Koro Island, one of the most heavily damaged areas during Cyclone Winston in 2016, much of the established flora was decimated by the storm surges and Category 5 winds. This led to Silver's Eco Bed & Breakfast submitting a proposal for the formation of a nursery to re-establish both mangroves and key endemic terrestrial plant species, with over 2,000 seedlings planted.Completed
Identify and briefly describe what future actions are planned for the implementation of this Resolution:
Future ActionDescription
Education/Communication/Raising awarenessPromotion of the successes associated with these rehabilitation activities on Koro island will be used as an example of small grants programme success and lessons learned will be shared with future small grants programme applicants and recipients, as well as donors and partners.
Scientific/technical activitiesContinued reporting on the GHG emission reductions realized through the solar PV system and the successful re-establishment of forested areas will be the primary point of correspondence with the Silver's Eco Bed & Breakfast staff.
