before seeing this resolution, I was working in 1992 with the forest caucus and in having input the ngo alernative treaty in UNCED. After Rio, i worked on placing the 'forest Principles in the context of the section on deforestation in Agenda 21. Locally, I was involveded in court to try to set aside the injunction that resulled in over 1000 citizens being arrested

Description and results/achievements of activities:
After Rio, I participated in Rio +7, in the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable development and in CSDs Where I often collaborated on forestry issues, From 1992 to 1996, I co-taught a course in global issues of sustainable development. In this course I stressed the importance of international law as instrument of change.From 1997-2001, I was the national leader of the Green Party of Canada, and worked on drafting the Platform, including the platform on forests. i also wrote affidavit for court cases where citizens were arrested for protecting old growth forests in BC

At the local level, there has to be continual vigilence Currently the old growth forest in the Walbran is under threat and citizens are prepared to get arrested again . It t is encouraging thata letter from International Scientists’ have called or Action to Protect Endangered Temperate Rainforests of British Columbia, Canada. see below
