Describe the results/achievements of the activities
Following the resolution, capacity building through over 20 events has taken place across the secretariat and in partnership with CEM. Meetings to raise awareness (EU parliament, key donors such as Japan Biodiversity Fund and AfD, implementing partners of PEDRR partnership, Friends of EbA, etc.). NbS has been advocated for during the UNFCCC and CBD COP, California Climate Summit, HLF on SDGs in New York and UNCCCD.
Challenges/obstacles encountered in the implementation of this Resolution and measures taken
Most members and partners are reluctant to engage unless there is funding. We offer to work together to jointly fundraise. Also, it is being seen as yet another new concept, important to link back to decades of projects that have been doing NbS and clarify that this articulation was missing in the past. Defining/articulating a practice into a concept helps with mainstreaming, scaling up and recognition.
Future actions / activities needed for the implementation of this Resolution
Development of a standard which is in progress and further programming of NbS in IUCN's and members' programme of work.
Are these actions/activities planned?
Yes
