WCC 2016 Res 068 - Progress Report

103 NGO representatives from 53 organisations have been trained on negotiation skills, in particular mutual gains approach as well as coalition building. The training was used to refine action plans to influence business and government around at least 5 specific change goals (more details upon request). This training effort was developed in response to needs expressed from local partners involved in the joint strategic program objective of Shared Resources, Joint Solutions, led by IUCN Netherlands Committee, WWF Netherlands (Wereld Natuur Fonds) with funding from the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. IUCN Business and Biodiversity Programme providing support on business engagement strategies scoped out the training which was led by the Consensus Building Institute.

• Benin/Burkina Faso 18 participants from 7 NGOs, including IUCN Members Eco-Benin (new member), BEES, AGEREF and AGED
• Uganda 30 participants from 17 NGOs including IUCN members Eco-Trust and AFIEGO (new member)
• Tanzania 30 participants from 14 NGOs with no national level IUCN members but included WWF Tanzania, WCS Tanzania, SNZ, GIZ
• Philippines 25 participants from 15 NGOs, including IUCN Member NTFP-EP
