Description and results/achievements of activities:
A report has been produced to catalogue the baseline status of existing peatland strategies globally. Strategies were identified through a combination of research and questionnaires which were distributed via the IUCN National Committees and global peatland networks. The CEM Peatland Specialist Group (led by the IUCN UK Peatland Programme) has been engaging with other nations on strategic development and will continue to showcase existing examples and support the development of new strategies.
Promotion of the IUCN Resolution continues through our engagement with other international partners in the United Nations, Ramsar, Wetlands International and the Global Peatlands Initiative.

Describe any challenges encountered in implementing this Resolution and the measures taken
Establishing new contacts in peatland nations where we have not historically worked has been challenging: there are still some gaps in the data which we hope to fill by continuing the monitoring of global peatland strategies through the GPI in support of their Global Peatlands Assessment (2020). Part of the resolution is seeking to deliver work which is outwith our capabilities
Please report on the result /achievement of the actions taken
Baseline monitoring has highlighted the existence of at least 27 strategies for peatland conservation, restoration and sustainable management globally, with a further 5 strategies in development.
